Saint Patrick’s Day

File:Saint Patrick (window).jpg

Saint Patrick’s day is this weekend and I thought it would be a great time to give my little Sprout a short history lesson on who Saint Patrick was and what he did.  We learned quite a bit together and so I thought it’d be a great idea to share it here at Growing Mama Sprouting Child.

Saint Patrick was a Christian Missionary and an Ordained Bishop in Northern Ireland. He was born sometime in 340 and died March 17th of 440.

As a child he was enslaved, and freed through the voice of God directing him to freedom. He also heard the voice of God again where he was directed to bring His Word to an area of  Ireland where he baptized thousands,  ordained priests, and helped to bring countless more to Christianity.

The green color has been associated with Saint Patrick from the 17th century. It is said Saint Patrick used the Shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to non-believers.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
